A Long Term Investment? UNITRACK was originally created for the Japanese market where space is at a premium and permanent layouts are a rarity. Very elaborate, temporary layouts are created for the day on straw mats or directly on the floor. UNITRACK is engineered to withstand this repeated set-up and teardown. The UniJoiner® design not only joins the Rail sections & roadbed together but also protects the electrical and mechanical function of the rail joiner. In the unlikely event one is damaged, the UniJoiner® can be easily replaced. It Is That Good That Its The Number One System In Japan. | UNITRACK Compatibility? The One Question We Always Get Asked Is; "Will my locos run on UNITRACK ?" Yes!!, you can run any make of n scale loco, Coach or rolling Stock on it. from Arnold to Graham Farish To ZTC (Don't Forget Kato Make Locos For The Far East, USA & The European Markets And Unitrack Is Sold In All These Continents!). We Know That Dapol, Digitrax & ZTC Use UNITRACK On Their Exhibition Stand Along With The New Kato Controller & We Also Use UNITRACK HO & N In Our shop as our test tracks, so every make we sell gets Run on it!!! Is UNITRACK DCC friendly? Its so dCC friendly that Digitrax & zTC use UNITRACK on their demonstration layouts at shows. (Kato Promote & sell the Digitrax DCC systems in Japan, and Digitrax make the New Kato dCC decoders). | Temporary or Permanent Layout ... Your Choice!! Whilst ideal for temporary set-ups, UNITRACK is an excellent choice for permanent layouts, where smooth operation is a priority. UNITRACK also makes sense for staging yards where sidings may have to be rearranged or adjusted to accommodate new traffic flow and in helixes, connecting stacked mainlines where derailments cannot be tolerated. The UNITRACK N Scale range includes a reliable single, double Ground & viaduct track systems, which allows The creation of multi-level track plans without difficult permanent construction. | Electrical Connection & DCC Compatibility. Any controller - which supplies 0-12V DC, may be used to power UNITRACK; (We of course recommend the Kato 22-014 Controller, for ease of use Its Plug & Play, So Simple!) track sections can be powered in one of two ways; -
By Using the #20-041 62mm Feeder Track. -
or by substituting #24-818 Terminal Joiners for the regular Unijoiners®. Further track sections can be powered by using DC Extension Leads #24-825 And 3-Way Extension Block #24-827 Then Use with the #20-041 Feeder Track or #24-818 Terminal Joiners for the regular Unijoiners®. For Isolating Sections Use #24-816 Insulated Unijoiners®. All UNITRACK Points come with point motors built into the Track base and work on A DC power Supply (so If you are using any other make of controller you need a #24-842 AC-DC Converter to power a bank of #24-840 point switches and the points). with the Kato controller this is not needed as the point switches Simple plug onto the side. All points are self-isolating (Just like Peco), #4 points (#20-220/221) also have full power routing capability. Is UNITRACK DCC friendly? Its so dCC friendly that Digitrax & zTC use UNITRACK on their demonstration layouts at shows. | Planning Your Layout. The modular nature of UNITRACK allows you to 'plan as you go' on your layout. All the new Master series & variation track packs include a booklet showing a number of basic layouts using these track packs. for more elaborate layouts Kato do publish a track planning book, but this is in the process of being updated in Japan, its also in Japanese text but its very easy to follow. If your a computer user, most computer aided track planning software packages include a KATO UNITRACK library. You could use the #20-901 UNITRACK Template. As long as you include the correct number of degrees of curve track i.e. 360º degree = a full circle, (45º eighth, 90º quarter, 180º half, and 360º full circle respectively), slight errors in geometry can be absorbed in the UNITRACK because of the design of the Unijoiners®. The #20-091 Assortment Set provides small 'filler' sections of straight track which may prove useful. If you end up with a really odd gap. the #20-050 Expansion Track telescopes from 78-108mm (3'-4 1/4') to close larger gaps, and is useful for joining modular boards. note; the #20-220 and #20-221 (#4) Turnouts must have either a S6OL or S6OR Filler Track (which is included in the package) on a straight or curved diverging leg of the switch to join to regular track pieces, (The #20-202 and #20-203 (#6) Turnouts do not require Filler Tracks). |
